designEX has announced an alliance with Sydney’s Design Centre Enmore TAFE to showcase the top four installation designs from its promising 2nd year Interior Design and Decoration students.

The students were asked to consider, within certain parameters, how to bring a theme to life in one of four spaces: commercial, compact residential, public or urban patio.

From presentations and 3D models depicting their spaces, the winning groups will now transform their ideas into a designEX installation with the help of sponsors who will supply products.

"This is a fresh idea to support creative thinking and give young up-and-coming designers a credible forum in which to get noticed," says Danielle Fischer from Diversified Exhibitions, which stages the event. "The brief was specifically left open to allow these students to flex their creative muscle, and they didn’t disappoint."

The young designers are:

- commercial: Craig Read, Anna Sulsters and Olga Volokitina for The State of the Art

- compact residential: Joseph Gardner Sgro, Sally Farmer and Sasha Nesterenko for The Reading Room

- public: Jacqueline Bosscher, Clare Eldridge and Elizabeth Phan for Thinking outside the square to bring the design community to life

- urban patio: Rosalyn Hall, Thi Do, Bonnie-Lee Schollbach and Kelly Silm for Escape your mind

Sponsors for the project include Cloth Fabric, Garden Life, Interstudio, Porters Paints and Australian Native Landscapes.

The Enmore Design Centre — we bring design to life installation will be located at the rear of Hall 2 at the show.

designEX will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre from Thursday, April 22 to Saturday, April 24 and is co-located with Form & Function.
