Property and construction company Hindmarsh has recently completed the Belconnen Community Health Centre in the ACT, a $51.3 million project delivered for ACT Health.

Designed by architects Mcconnel Smith & Johnson, in a joint venture with May + Russell Architects, the Health Centre forms part of the ACT Government’s Health Infrastructure Program (HIP).

The HIP, the single largest capital works program undertaken in the history of the Territory since self-government, is a commitment valued at over $1 billion. It aims to provide the basis for a sustainable and modern health system to ensure the safety, availability and viability of quality health care in the ACT.

Located within the Belconnen Town Centre, the 11,000 square metre development comprises a five storey building that has four levels of clinical and administration space, as well as a floor for plantrooms.

A single level basement carpark is also included in the main building, which is adjoined to an annex building.

The centre features a composite double glazed aluminium curtain wall façade system with integrated metallic frames that provide solar protection.

“Its striking curved form responds to the northern boundary of the site to maximise the available space within the site, and create diversity in the urban landscape,” explains Hindmarsh’s chief executive officer, Darren Dougan.

Incorporating primary care and treatment areas, staff support offices, meeting rooms and diagnostic facilities, the new Belconnen Community Health Centre will provide an enhanced contemporary healthcare hub.
