Tensile created a balustrade for a staircase using Jakob Webnet tensile mesh at a home in Germany.

The mesh balustrade goes beyond its functional requirements to become an object defining the stairwell as a space all of its own. Used as a continual piece spanning the four storeys of the house, the balustrade features cable guides located in the corners and tied back at each slab level, with both the cables and mesh anchored to larger tube sections at the ends to provide the necessary structural support.

Webnet’s versatility and strength are clearly showcased in this application where Jakob and the architect have achieved a light filled void connecting the house vertically with a simple lightweight solution.
