Bates Smart's transformative vision for Australian Unity's Spring Street headquarters in Melbourne seamlessly merged heritage restoration and modern design across three levels, accommodating over 1000 staff in flexible and welcoming workspaces. Upholding BCA regulations and Green Star requirements, the project emphasises a hub-style workplace with a wellness focus.

The collaboration with SUPAWOOD proved pivotal in materialising Bates Smart's vision. Leveraging SUPASLAT's modular lining system, the project showcased uniquely shaped slatted panels preassembled by SUPAWOOD, ensuring a streamlined installation without on-site modifications. The crisscross pattern of SUPASLAT and SUPALINE panels, framed by SUPALINE decorative solid panels, defined communal workspaces and meeting rooms, creating a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality.

Integration was key, with concealed hatches, integrated lighting, and black acoustic textile backing addressing noise reverberation. The durable SUPAFINISH Tasmanian Oak laminate, VOC-free and BCA-compliant, played a crucial role in achieving impressive 5 Star Green Star and 5 Star NABERS Energy ratings.

Bates Smart's confidence in SUPAWOOD's expertise, demonstrated through successful past collaborations, facilitated a smooth process. SUPAWOOD's detailed shop drawings and guidance ensured efficiency within the client's budget. The result is a workplace where heritage and modernity coalesce, exemplifying a commitment to both employee wellbeing and sustainable design.
