Spantech was contracted to construct a complete indoor sports facility at Kings Christian College in Queensland.

The largest single campus Christian school in Australia, Kings Christian College is located at Reedy Creek on Queensland’s Gold Coast, and offers childcare and preschool as well as primary and secondary schooling on the same campus.

Designed by architecture firm Facility Design Group, the Kings Sports Centre project was scheduled to be completed over three stages by Spantech to suit the school’s budget and planned growth.

Stage I was completed in 2009 and comprised of a large covered outdoor learning area (COLA). Stage II was completed in 2012 and included an indoor sports hall and a two-storey structure added to the existing shade structure. The two storey central hub connected directly to the shade structure and included four classrooms, a gymnasium, a staff room and two sets of amenities to service the sports hall and a future swimming pool hall.

The sports hall included two full sized multipurpose courts for basketball, netball, futsal and volleyball. Two large storerooms also flank the sports hall.

Additionally, Spantech constructed a large carpark and installed two massive underground stormwater tanks that provide water for amenities in the new facility.

Stage III will include a 25-metre swimming pool under the COLA, which will be enclosed to provide a fully featured indoor swimming pool hall.
