The Crayola Experience is a place where children are encouraged to play, explore and learn, and discover ‘the magic of colour’ through 25 interactive attractions. For the Orlando, Florida centre, which opened in the summer of 2015, Sika supplied Sika ComfortFloor PS-23, a seamless, fluid-applied polyurethane floor system that provides both comfort as well as toughness by combining softness underfoot and durability.

Given the emphasis on creativity, the crayon manufacturer wanted to make sure the facility was imaginative and colourful throughout – including the flooring. The Crayola Experience was opening in an existing retail space; during the refurbishment when the floor was reinforced, they discovered the concrete surface was in very poor shape and had many cracks.

Sika ComfortFloor PS-23 polyurethane floor system was specified for the Crayola centre. In addition to clear benefits such as underfoot comfort factor, excellent acoustics and durability, the flooring system was also available in custom colours, which met Crayola’s colour expectations.

"I like ComfortFloor because it is a softer floor, wears like iron, and is phenomenal in high-traffic areas. In fact, I’ve had ComfortFloor in my office for four years and there is no sign of wear, even under my office chair," said Tommy Clay, owner and general manager at Ardor Solutions in Oviedo, Florida – the flooring contractor on the 30,577-square-feet project.

Sika products used for the Crayola project included Sika ComfortFloor PS-23, Sika 161 Primer, Sikafloor 330, Sikafloor 305 W, and Sikafloor 304 W Satin Clear Urethane.
