Acoustic louvre windows from Safetyline Jalousie were installed in the Virgin Lounge at Gold Coast International Airport, QLD to create a relaxing space for members.
The Virgin Lounge at the airport provides a comfortable environment for members to enjoy while they are in transit, waiting for their plane to depart.
The lounge is located on the southern face of the building, running perpendicular to the runways. Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows were installed along the floor of the second level of the building within the lounge area.
The aesthetic appeal of the louvres as well as their acoustic performance was important to the architect who wanted to create a relaxing space for members to enjoy, with the acoustic louvre windows eliminating loud external aircraft noise.
Even better, Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows could also be integrated with the airport’s building management system (BMS). As a critical function in the operation of the airport, an efficient fire and smoke management system was required and Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows became a key feature of their smoke management system.
The louvre windows are kept permanently closed but built into the BMS, with the fire panel to automatically open when smoke or fire is detected.
When prompted by the BMS, the louvres will automatically open to allow ‘outside fresh air’ to circulate, whilst the internal ‘smoke filled air’ is removed through the roof mounted smoke exhaust system.
