    North Queensland sparkies shine at industry Excellence Awards

    The North Queensland Excellence Awards held by Master Electricians Australia (MEA) recently acknowledged the contributions of some of Australia’s brightest electricians.

    A total of 14 awards were handed out to businesses and individuals who demonstrated outstanding achievements in the electrical industry.

    The coveted Master Electrician of the Year award was claimed by Cairns-based i-LEC Solutions, whose high standards in quality and safety highlighted the company’s professionalism and business leadership.  

    Describing the prestigious win as an amazing honour, i-LEC Director Phil Young said that the company has always employed the highest standards of quality and safety in their work, which has been now acknowledged by the leading industry body.

    MEA chief executive Malcolm Richards said the North Queensland Master Electrician of the Year title could not have been awarded to a more deserving electrical company. 

    Mr Richards explains that i-LEC’s professionalism has ensured they are considered a business leader in the Cairns Electrical Industry for safety procedure and policy implementation. In just three years, i-LEC has grown to be one of Cairns’ largest electrical firms and MEA is very proud to acknowledge their hard work and dedication to the industry. 

    Two-time Master Electrician of the Year award winners Horan and Bird won two awards for Commercial Project of the Year and Solar Installation Project of the Year for their work on a commercial site in Cannon Park Precinct in Condon and the Good Shepherd Nursing Home respectively. 

    The honour of NQ Business Woman of the Year went to Patricia Elsden of Starr Electrics, who has been co-Director of the Edmonton business for the past six years.

    The Apprentice of the Year - Highly commended award was proudly received by Jacob Ernest Hill of Torgas Inc, who was also hailed as the company’s most outstanding fourth-year electrical apprentice in June of this year.

    MEA chief executive Malcolm Richards said he was impressed at the hard work and dedication put in by award winners and finalists throughout the year.

    Master Electricians Australia represents the best of the electrical trade across the country and is the electrical industry’s leading business partner, knowledge source and advocate.
