Architectural mesh specialist Kaynemaile™ worked with architecture firm ThomsonAdsett to create an impressive façade system for the Aspley Hypermarket shopping centre in Queensland.

Created and installed as part of the $50 million upgrade to the shopping centre, the unique architectural facade is stretched over a geometric steel frame, highlighting the unique properties of Kaynemaile-Armour, and providing a solid yet translucent fabric-like screen.

The shadow play on the silver-coloured screen changes dramatically from day to night, creating a dynamic architectural feature on the shopping centre’s façade. Each screen was fabricated and installed as a single piece, the largest being 60 metres long by six metres high. Kaynemaile's attachment systems simplified the installation of the facade system.

Mainbrace Construction was the main contractor on the upgrade project and the installation of the exterior Kaynemaile-Armour system was executed by Cladek Facades.
