World-leading producer and marketer of high-performance fibre cement and fibre gypsum building solutions, James Hardie announced the start of construction of their new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with a ground-breaking ceremony in Truganina, Melbourne.

James Hardie acknowledges the Kulin nation as the Traditional Owners and custodians of this land and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

Upon completion, the site is expected to generate up to 200 full-time jobs. In addition to this, the new facility will generate an average of 250 jobs per day during construction, with up to 500 during peak construction activity.

The Truganina site will be the company’s fourth site in the Asia Pacific region, better enabling James Hardie and its key customers to service the growing demand for their high value building solutions in some of their fastest growing markets across Australia and New Zealand.

The first phase of this investment will add 36% nameplate capacity to the APAC region. The site is being designed and built to enable investment in future phases of expansion that will continue to increase their APAC region nameplate capacity.

Working with leading industrial architectural designers Watson Young, LOGOS will develop the facility on behalf of James Hardie. The site is estimated to be fully operational by 2025.
