Hideaway Bins received global recognition for their innovative Concelo waste bin design at the prestigious international Red Dot Design Awards 2019.

An international awards program, the Red Dot Design Awards recognises some of the best design innovations in the world each year. For the 2019 edition, over 5,500 entries were received from around the world with the manufacturers and designers of the winning products honoured and celebrated at the Red Dot award ceremony in Essen, Germany in July last year.

Hideaway Bins directors Allen and Jamie Bertelsen received the Red Dot Design award for their Concelo waste bin. This win for the Auckland-based company not only spotlights the research and development capability of New Zealand but also highlights the kitchen and bathroom industry.

The Concelo waste bin is now on display in the Red Dot Museum in Essen, alongside other award-winning products. It is also forever featured in the 2019 Red Dot DOING yearbook from where the international design community draws inspiration for future products and stays on top of the latest product trends.

“The celebration was glamourous, an experience not to be forgotten and a true honour to have our waste bin recognised for its unique design features that truly help it to stand out in the crowd,” said director Allen Bertelsen.
