Hettich’s new Sustainability Report for 2023 offers valuable insights into its sustainability strategy, the measures it has taken and planned, as well as the successes and challenges it has encountered along the way.

Sustainability motto

Hettich is dedicated to a sustainable corporate policy, guided by the motto ‘Act today – think of tomorrow’. Its commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted in its history and values as a family business with 135 years of experience. Hettich’s long-term goal is to harmonise economic success with social, societal, and ecological responsibility.

Publishing its first report in 2015, long before it gained widespread recognition in public perception, Hettich has been at the forefront of sustainability reporting.

Social Responsibility – ‘We care for each other’

Hettich’s primary focus is its people with health and safety at work paramount, with a priority on well-founded training and ongoing education, and fostering diversity, equal opportunities, and personal responsibility among its colleagues.

Hettich aims to create an attractive working and living environment that enables individuals to grow and thrive by leveraging their strengths. Its strategy emphasises a sustainable and healthy Hettich culture, with a focus on digital competence, modern cooperation, and a sustainable working environment.

Societal Responsibility – ‘We care for others’

As a responsible member of society, Hettich extends its commitment beyond corporate boundaries and actively contributes to education, science, art, culture, and social causes through monetary and in-kind donations. Hettich’s support also extends to sponsoring activities and promoting the voluntary efforts of its colleagues.

Ecological Responsibility – ‘We care for the environment’

Hettich understands the importance of preserving the Earth’s resources for future generations with its managing director, Jana Schönfeld emphasising the ongoing efforts to improve resource efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and prevent environmental pollution, which are deeply embedded in Hettich’s corporate culture. Sustainability principles have guided the company since the early 1990s, and it has recently integrated climate neutrality goals into its corporate strategy, prioritising avoidance and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Hettich is determined to make a positive impact on our environment, and together, it works as a team to shape its sustainability agenda and ensure continuous development. Hettich Australia is dedicated to living up to its participatory culture where every member can contribute their strengths, passions, and ideas to the fullest.

“Together as a team, we shape the sustainability agenda and ensure continuous development,” said Ute Schulz, Corporate Responsibility Team.
