GH Commercial worked with leading Australian property group Mirvac to supply the flooring for the new Think Pink Living Centre in Melbourne. As one of Mirvac’s longstanding and trusted suppliers, GH Commercial was proud to assist with donated flooring for this project.
The Think Pink Foundation
Focussed on assisting people with breast cancer navigate their way from initial diagnosis, through treatment and onto survivorship, the independent Think Pink charitable organisation delivers free programs and services directly addressing the emotional, physical and practical needs of patients and their families. Mirvac has enjoyed a decade strong philanthropic relationship with the Think Pink Foundation.
Think Pink Breast Cancer Centre
Located on the ground floor of Mirvac’s award-winning ‘Forge’ tower on the banks of the Yarra in Melbourne’s Docklands, the $1 million architecturally designed Living Centre, officially opened in early 2020, was funded, designed and constructed by Mirvac in partnership with a number of its key contractors and suppliers.
The interior layout offers considered flexibility with space for functions, yoga classes and private consultations, a wig fitting salon, kitchen, dining area and private staff offices. The Living Centre’s tranquil waterfront location as well as access to lush parklands is ideal for the weekly walking groups and outdoor activities organised to assist with recovery and rehabilitation.
Practical products with design flair
Mindful of the Living Centre’s mixed-use requirements, the flooring surface needed to meet a number of criteria and Godfrey Hirst had just the right product – Long Grain carpet tiles in colour 7650 Mineral.
This modulated loop carpet tile, installed throughout the centre, offers high visual appeal, with a variety of installation options that can accentuate a specific pattern or blend to appear as a broadloom carpet. Long Grain carpet tiles provide an easy-care surface with excellent noise insulating properties – a factor of particular importance in a place purpose built around the notion of peace and restoration.
Rated Contract Extra Heavy Duty and proudly Australian Made, Long Grain carpet tiles are certified Declare Red List free, meeting stringent sustainability and toxic-free chemical standards.
While Long Grain carpet tiles were used throughout the majority of the centre, the Aquila DS Plus Luxury Vinyl Plank range in colour 180 Heather was selected for the onsite hairdressing salon. Super durable and water resistant, Aquila DS Plus luxury vinyl planks have also been awarded Global GreenTag GreenRate Level A, the highest achievable GreenRate certification for overall product health and environmental impacts.
GH Commercial – Helping the community
Statistically, one in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, a figure that will translate to approximately 16,000 cases this year nationally, of which 1% will be men. The simple fact that this statistic will inevitably touch many of us in some form or other, gives added resonance to the part we at GH Commercial were honoured to play in the new Think Pink Living Centre.
