The GH Commercial team designed a premium educational flooring with a distinctly heritage aesthetic for the Sacred Heart College at their Marcellin Campus.
A leading South Australian educational institution since 1897, Sacred Heart College moved to their current location in Somerton Park in 1914. Originally established as a school for boys, Sacred Heart College is, today, a flourishing co-educational Catholic school for years 7-12 across two campuses. A school rich in tradition, their progressive teaching and learning strategies, and emphasis on student wellbeing and service to others, are underscored by their founding Marist values of faith, love, justice and compassion.
Bespoke Design
As one of South Australia’s most superbly preserved late nineteenth century buildings, the updated flooring at Marcellin Campus’ Paringa Hall needed to complement its stately origins.
GH Commercial created a stunning bespoke carpet for the building’s staircase and corridors, extending the design cues and palette from a previously installed woven carpet in the boardroom with an ornate Victorian floral pattern. The custom woven carpet took inspiration from the gothic revival architecture era, featuring a repeat pattern of stylised Fleur-de-lis on a lush green base.
Woven Wonder
Woven carpets beautifully combine function with form, providing a thicker, more sumptuous pile than many alternative flooring choices, while also withstanding the rigours of heavy foot traffic. Merging time honoured craftsmanship with contemporary technology, the interwoven pile and backing locks patterns into place, creating a stable, robust surface without relying on adhesive for construction durability. Made from premium New Zealand and British wool blend fibre, woven carpets combine proven resilience with luxurious underfoot comfort.
