In continuation of their commitment to provide water solutions for a healthier environment, Galvin Engineering has become the first in Australia to receive NSF/ANSI 372 certification with their Lead Safe™ products.

What is NFS/ANSI 372?

NSF/ANSI 372: ‘Drinking Water System Components – Lead Content’ is an American National Standard that establishes a standardised methodology for the determination and verification of product compliance to minimise lead contaminants. NSF/ANSI 372 is consistent with the United States Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and its lead-free plumbing requirements, serving as a basis to establish conformance with these regulations.

NSF/ANSI 372 standard includes:

  • A maximum weighted lead content requirement of 0.25 percent (0.2 percent for solders and fluxes)
  • A formula for calculating the weighted average lead content of each product prior to testing
  • Specific procedures for testing products for lead content

Why third party testing?

As ‘lead free’ is not currently defined by law or plumbing codes in Australia and New Zealand, there are different levels of lead free and lead safe products available in the market. To ensure you have total peace of mind that the product you choose is indeed what it promises, we have made it easy for you and invested in independent third party certification.

While not all our Lead Safe products have yet been independently tested and listed on our NSF 372 Type Test Certificate, they do, however, comply with the requirements of the NSF/ANSI 372 standard. So, stay tuned as more products will be certified soon!

With water solutions for a healthier environment at the core of everything we do, we believe that low lead products are non-negotiable irrespective of when or if this recommendation will be formally implemented.
