G.H. Mumm returned to Flemington with its double-storey Le Jardin de la Maison Mumm after two years away.

A luxurious trackside experience transported more than 900 guests across the Carnival to the conviviality of the ‘Pleasure Garden’ era with a modern interpretation. The Birdcage marquee was unveiled by supermodel Duckie Thot dressed in the hue of Mumm’s cordon rouge. Thot performed the ‘tap tap’ moment – tapping the neck of a three-litre jeroboam with a sabre, which produced a cascading fountain of champagne.

The construction of the two-storey marquee was months in the making, involving conceptual artists, designers, architects, and builders. The artificial greenery required a Group 2 fire certification, meaning the galvanised steel Evergreen Premium panels had to be manually cut and crafted to create a soft and life-like shape. To create the look of a growing wall plant, Ferns Hanging Bushes and Milan Leaves were inserted around the edges to further soften the overall look and feel.
