Ballarat terraces typically display the charm of traditional architecture using a lacework keyfrieze and a matching lacework corner. A common feature in Ballarat, lacework in similar designs can be found on many semi-detached weatherboard terraces.

The semi-detached weatherboard terraces on two cottages in Golden Point close to Canadian Creek, just south of the Ballarat CBD feature northern European style clipped or half-hipped gables - exceptionally rare in such houses in Australia.

The cottages are made distinctive with their projective eaves and brackets, combined with timber decorative detail and mouldings including six panelled timber Victorian style doors surrounded by sidelights, fanlight and paired double hung windows, bullnosed verandahs, iron lace fringe and brackets, and tall polychrome brick chimney and party walls.

Chatterton Lacework specialises in heritage lace panels, lacework, quality gate and fence accessories, kookaburra letterboxes and Victorian steel design.
