Blum’s status as a leading Austrian exporting company was recognised with the Global Player Award, Austria’s top export prize awarded by a prominent jury every year. With 97 per cent of their products sold abroad, Blum had the honour of receiving the Global Player Award from the Austrian Chamber of Commerce at the 23rd Awards Ceremony in Vienna.

Commenting on their exporting history, Managing Director Gerhard E. Blum says the company has been building their presence in markets all over the world for more than five decades. During his speech at the ceremony, he said the key to success in global markets was their ability to be open to different ways of thinking and consequently to acknowledge and respect different cultures. Blum’s focus on innovation backed by high investments in Research & Development and the capacity to adapt products to specific national requirements was another reason.

Blum’s management recognised early on that it would have to focus on exporting products to achieve sustainable success. Exporting to more than 120 countries, the fittings specialist from Hoechst is represented all over the world with 29 subsidiaries and/or agencies.

The Global Player Award awarded by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce is given to companies that have built up a strong position on the global market over the years. Nominations are made by Austria’s Foreign Trade Office with nominees required to operate an efficient international network and even be regarded as a pioneer in a specific country or industry. The jury is chaired by the President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce Christoph Leitl.
