Alspec’s commercial aluminium framing solutions were selected for the exterior of a new office building situated in a business park in Hamilton, QLD.

Located within Brisbane’s evolving Northshore Hamilton precinct, 385 MacArthur Avenue is the latest addition to the business and technology portion of the urban renewal site. Northshore Hamilton encompasses 304ha of former wharf land adjacent to the Brisbane River, which is being transformed into a mixed-use precinct comprising residential, commercial and leisure amenities.

The building designed by Blight Rayner Architecture and built by Graystone, offers over 3,500m² of A-Grade office space set over three levels, with layout flexibility to accommodate businesses of all sizes. The building’s location is just one of the drawcards for tenants. While the new business park offers great access to transport links and amenities, the building’s spacious interior, flooded with natural light and protected by double glazing, provides a vibrant and inviting place for workers.

Hamilton office space

The brief for the architects was to design a building that would make the best use of the site while providing an inviting interior maximising natural light for the occupants. Alspec’s range of commercial aluminium framing solutions was selected for the exterior as they offer design versatility in conjunction with robust and durable componentry.

For this build, Alspec’s popular Hunter Evo flush glazed framing was adopted. The system is made from architectural grade aluminium, making it exceptionally strong and highly corrosion resistant. It is available in 101.6mm or 150mm x 50mm frame depths, with the 150mm option being selected for this project. The system can accommodate larger expanses of glass and either single or double glazing as required.

For building access points, Swan Evo 45mm single glazed commercial doors were incorporated. Easily integrated with the Hunter Evo framing system, Swan Evo doors are robust doors available in hinged, pivoted or sliding options. This makes them ideal for use across a development site, being adaptable to meet the requirements of different locations.
