Bathroom and kitchen products company ABI Interiors has been named winner of the E-Commerce Award at the 60th Australian Export Awards.

ABI Interiors was established by a Queensland family in 2016 in response to a gap in the market for high quality coloured fixtures and fittings in bathrooms and kitchens.

ABI Interiors’ director and co-founder Luli Farrell congratulated all of the category finalists and said the award was extremely unexpected.

“We wouldn’t be here without our incredible team and I’m so proud of how far we’ve come,” Farrell said.

“I’m very grateful for this award and for the support we receive.”

The company’s vision is to provide homeowners and trades with premium, coloured kitchen and bathroom products at an inclusive price point, with the first showroom established in Burleigh Heads.

“Our approach is to create products that are not only durable, long-lasting and aesthetically appealing, but offered at a cost never seen before in the industry,” Farrell said.

“We always take a customer-first approach – putting our clients at the centre of our product development strategies.

“We also offer a generous 25-year warranty for our high-quality ranges to encourage customers to consider long-term sustainability as an option,” she added.

ABI Interiors already exports to 45 markets around the world, and are looking to broaden their reach.

“Our next target markets are South-East Asia and the Middle East.

“We are focusing on markets where the certification and plumbing codes for tapware are transferable with Australian standards to help with streamlining the process.

“But at our core, we are simply striving to empower homeowners and trades to use premium kitchen and bathroom products without the premium price tag.”

Farrell said if they have learned anything from their experience so far, it would be to double timelines for international expansion.

“Dealing with global supply chains is complicated – so we are now doubling any anticipated wait times when dealing with customs registrations, taxation requirements and other elements.

“This gives us more wiggle room when timelines get crunched, and we can also optimise our approach for that particular region.”

Presented by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Australian Export Awards is one of the longest running business awards programs in Australia.
