ARCHITECTS and specifiers looking for a flooring solution which can deliver a greater sense of space in both domestic and commercial applications need look no further.

Boral Timber Flooring has revitalised its engineered flooring range, Boral Silkwood, with a new 175 mm wide board available in a choice of three Australian species.

Complementing the popular wider boards in Boral Timber’s solid flooring range, the Boral Silkwood 175 mm wide board helps to convey the impression of roominess, making it ideal for small spaces and open plan living.

Boral Silkwood is available in Blackbutt, Sydney Blue Gum and Brushbox, offering a varied spectrum of colours.

The Boral Silkwood wide board can be quickly and simply installed. Supplied with a pre-finished coating, mess and fuss caused by sanding and finishing is avoided and the floor can be walked on within hours of installation. Boral Silkwood can be glued or ‘floated’ over any level, structurally sound subfloor such as concrete slabs, plywood or existing tiles and timber floors.

Boral Silkwood can also be fitted with an acoustic underlay, such as Boral RV-4, to keep noise from foot traffic to a minimum, which is particularly beneficial for apartments and multi-level units.

Boral Silkwood is supplied in lengths up to 2.4m long and the range is backed by a 25-year residential structural and surface warranty.

Boral Timber’s products are sourced from sustainably managed and legal sources, with Boral Timber achieving Australian Forestry Standard (AFS) Chain of Custody certification for all its timber products. AFS is the largest forestry certification scheme in Australia and the only certification that meets Australian Standard AS 4708-2007. AFS is mutually acknowledged by the world’s largest forestry certification scheme — PEFC.
