Driven by innovation and a passion for providing quality products and services, Zip are world leaders in instant drinking water systems. Incorporating world-class filtration and patented technologies, Zip set the standard for sustainable products and manufacturing that extends right throughout the supply chain.

With a commitment to excellence and environmental awareness, Zip has joined the Sustainability Awards program for the third year running, sponsoring the evening’s most anticipated award, Best of the Best. We sat down with Gloria Young, Senior Marketing Manager at Zip, to discuss sustainability, product innovation and how customers are shaking things up.

Can you tell us a little bit about Zip and its approach?

Zip has been leading the way in product design and innovation for decades, always putting the customer at the centre of everything they do. Customer needs influence all areas of the business, and their voice is reflected through every product and service offered.

You mention the role of the customer in the Zip approach. Are you able to expand a little on how this influences the way you approach sustainability and the environmental impact of your products and services?
When thinking about opportunities to be more sustainable, Zip considers what makes sense from a customer perspective and incorporates this into product design.

Specifically, the conversation around sustainability is shifting rapidly. Customers are becoming more aware of their responsibilities and are increasingly building, living and working in highly rated, energy- and water-efficient environments. Zip aims to help customers achieve their energy and water usage targets by offering products that are environmentally conscious, efficient and effective.

From a customer perspective, reducing waste is also a key driver. Zip converts ordinary tap water into pure-tasting water instantly, meaning customers no longer need to rely on plastic water bottles onsite.

Sustainable Accreditations

Zip feels strongly about sustainability and verified accreditations. The Zip HydroTap range carries an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which is internationally recognised and independently verified. The EPD details the environmental impact of HydroTaps from end to end—through production, manufacturing, distribution, installation and maintenance. This positions Zip to work closely with customers to make informed decisions that positively impact their environmental footprint.

Key Technologies Increasing Sustainability Credentials

At Zip, products and services are designed with a multifaceted approach to sustainability, energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact:

PowerPulse™ Technology – A patented system that reinvents how water is heated and maintained. Rather than heating large volumes and reboiling them, PowerPulse™ heats water rapidly in small increments and holds it at the specified temperature, reducing energy use.
Air-Cooling – All Zip products are air-cooled, offering a more sustainable option than water-cooled refrigeration.
Energy Conservation – Products include advanced thermal insulation, energy-saving modes and light-sensitive capabilities that detect when lights are off and activate sleep mode when selected.

How does this approach extend beyond the product?

Sustainability is embedded not only in products but in manufacturing processes. Every HydroTap is made to the highest quality standards and carries full WaterMark and WRAS approval.

On the production side, Zip recycles water during product cleaning, uses advanced software to minimise offcuts, recycles leftover materials, and ensures responsible disposal of end-of-life products. Packaging is also minimised across the supply chain, with a focus on reducing plastic and using recyclable materials.
