The Vantage window system by Architectural Window Systems (AWS) helped the architect achieve his design vision for a new home in Kingscliff, New South Wales.
Looking to frame the beautiful views towards Byron Bay while also blocking the western sun and the southern neighbours, architect Scott Carpenter decided on a stunning corner form that served as the eyes of the building and created an unbroken line of sight across the surrounding panorama.
Scott was engaged to design the three-storey building as a permanent home for Martin and his wife, Sarah, as well as a holiday home for their three grown sons. Castles at Kingscliff features an expansive lower floor that’s perfect for visitors, a luxury one-bedroom apartment on level two, and a bar and entertainment area on the top floor. The dwelling is designed for the family to congregate and admire the views through a clever bifold window system, which completely opens the area up to the great outdoors.
Scott also wanted both facades to follow the line of sight, which meant the windows would need to stand at 105 degrees instead of 90. Scott consulted with a local window and door fabricator, Window Makers to help achieve his vision.
“We talk about the success of the windows in this house and the doors,” says Scott, “but it’s actually their ability to completely disappear that makes them so successful.”
Having worked with the Vantage system from AWS for some years now, Scott believes it is the best window system going around.
