Street Works is a competition to create temporary installations that transform underutilised public spaces into vibrant places.

An initiative of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) NSW, Street Works is inviting designers to re-imagine spaces in the City of Sydney as dynamic, innovative and sustainable temporary public places that will bring people together in unique ways.

Landscape architects, architects, artists designers, musicians, performers, digital media artists and other creative professionals from complementary fields are invited to imagine new city places and submit a proposal for a temporary installation that builds on the aspirations of City of Sydney's Sustainable Sydney 2030.

The organisers say places should be dynamic, innovative and sustainable.

A design jury will select four entrants whose work will be installed in late October for a period of up to 3 months. This period coincides at the start with the Sydney Architecture Festival and will conclude with the Festival of Sydney.

An exhibition will be hosted during the Sydney Architecture Festival to showcase all competition entries, highlighting the range of creative ideas to form places for people.
