Maude Pilote (Hilliam Architects) and Elena Rajani (mckimm) have been named winners of the inaugural edition of the Zip Water Kitchen Design of the Year Competition.

The winners were chosen by a blind judging panel featuring Australian kitchen design experts. All entries were judged for design effectiveness, ergonomics, traffic flow and work zones, practical and functional use of space, storage, clearances, fixtures and fittings, lighting, plans, specification, visual appeal, innovation, inventiveness and creativity, and the use of Zip Water products.

The judging panel included Melanie Gardener – Editor, The Kitchen & Bathroom blog; Selina Zwolsman – Manager – Design & Communications, Kitchen & Bathroom Designers Institute; Annie Kim – General Manager – Retail, Snaidero Sydney; Tom Fisher – Marketing Director, Zip Water; and Cliff Thompson – Residential Director, Zip Water.

Maude Pilote (Hilliam Architects) won the Best Multi Residential Home Kitchen Award for the Eden Display Suite.

Elena Rajani (mckimm) was awarded the Best Freestanding Home Kitchen for her Sagamore project from a hotly contested field of 6 finalists.

“We’re thrilled with the high calibre of entries in our first ever Zip Water Kitchen Design of the Year Competition,” said Zip Water marketing director, Tom Fisher. “Working closely with kitchen designers is something we are passionate about at Zip and it’s been exciting to see the breadth of innovative designs using our HydroTap products.”
