ZC Technical worked with architects Arkhefield to supply and install a double lock standing seam zinc roof system covering an area of 600 square metres at the Townsville Cruise Terminal.
ZC Technical needed to ensure that the twisted shapes of the roof structures were made from a material that could handle acute tension and cyclonic standards. The length of the 13-metre panels also meant a carefully planned and tailored solution was required to transport and install them on a roof structure with an extremely steep pitch.
ZC Technical used VM Zinc ‘Anthra’ to ensure that the structure remained resistant to corrosion over an extended period of time regardless of its exposure to the harsh saltwater climate.
A standing seam roof system coupled with the malleability of zinc allowed ZC Technical to achieve the tricky twisted shapes of each roof span.
Townsville’s stunning Cruise Terminal has been built to last with its distinctive elements to be enjoyed by visitors for years to come.
