Zavanti’s  project partner Argent and landowners London & Continental Railways and DHL-Exel have chosen BIW Technologies (BIW) to provide its construction collaboration and process management software to support the development at King's Cross in central London.

King's Cross is a significant development and regeneration opportunity in Europe, focused on 67 acres (27 hectares) of brownfield land between King's Cross and St Pancras International stations. It has outline planning permission for some eight million sq ft (740,000m2) of mixed use development.

Outline planning permission was granted in December 2006 and includes up to 4,900,000 sq ft (450,000m2) of premium office area, some 1,900 new homes and up to 495,000 sq ft (46,000m2) of retail, plus hotels, serviced apartments, student accommodation, leisure, health, cultural, community, education and other uses. Proposed infrastructure works include 20 new streets, ten new public spaces, three new bridges and enhancements to the Regent's Canal. Also included are the refurbishment of some 20 historic buildings and structures.

Tony Giddings, Construction Director at Argent said, "With a project the size of King's Cross we need the best team on board. BIW's web-based system means we will have a consistent approach to the management of information and business right from the start, and one that is readily accessible to all the companies involved in this exciting regeneration opportunity."

BIW CEO, Colin Smith, adds: "We are delighted that our system has been chosen for the development at King's Cross. It confirms BIW as the platform of choice for developers wanting to keep firm control of complex, multi-project programmes of work."
