The Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) aims to be a leading industry association promoting excellence, developing and supporting people involved in all facets of water operations.

Key goals of the WIOA
  • build a National Association of Members
  • accumulate and disseminate information on the design, control, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems
  • promote and develop education and training standards 
  • provide opportunities for the recognition of individual achievements of Members and operators employed in the water industry
  • encourage new people into the industry and ensure adequate skill levels and succession planning across the sector
  • promote health and safety issues
  • develop consistent and reciprocal levels of training and qualifications of Members
  • promote the protection of the environment in all member activities and functions
The WIOA has close ties with the following Water Industry bodies:
  • State Government Department (VIC, QLD, NSW)
  • Government Skills Australia and their Water Industry Advisory Committee (WIAC)
  • Various Registered Training Organisations (RTO's) in all States
  • Australian Water Association (AWA)
  • Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA)
  • Water Industry Education and Training Association of Australia (WIETAA)
  • Various trade and consulting companies supplying equipment and services to the industry
WIOA also publishes and disseminates two publications:
  • WaterWorks (twice yearly journal)
  • Operator (quarterly newsletter)
Members also receive the Words monthly enewsletter as a way to communicate the latest industry and Association news and developments.
