Bovis Lend Lease and Viva Sunscreens recently worked together to solve the ongoing weather protection problems at Cockle Bay Wharf. Originally the outdoor tenancy areas were exposed to harsh westerly sun with little wet weather protection. The new design provides a glazed awning over the outdoor areas with Viva Sunscreens “Parizzi Screen” motorised retractable sunroof systems installed just beneath the glazed panels. The fabric used is "Oxygen S15" sunscreen textile in a reflective metallic silver finish which blocks 86 per cent of solar radiation while maintaining an outward view. On wet or overcast days the roof system is retracted to allow warmth and light to the under-glass area.

To extend the tenancies by an additional 2.5m past the glazed awning, Viva Sunscreens “Caretta” cassette folding arm awning systems (also fully automated with motorised operation) were integrated into the awning design, finished in a clear anodised aluminium and fitted with “Sunbrella Firesist” fire retardant textile. All Cockle Bay tenants are delighted with the new system and are now able to seat customers outdoors in almost all weather conditions.
