Vertilux Corporation has persisted with it’s commitment to certification – an investment that helped the manufacturer this year win a contract to supply the window fit out for over 4000 GreenTag certified roller blinds for a benchmark 34 story project in Brisbane.

The products selected for the prestigious six star Green Star rated office tower at 480 Queen Street - a Grocon project, designed by BVN Architects - was Vertilux’s  Euroscreen, a Trevira CS fabric and EuroBlock Room Darkening Fabric, which is inherently fire retardant and PVC free.

Global GreenTag is the only ACCC approved certification mark for the Australian building sector and Vertilux Corporation Director, Ross Lava claims that the design decision to select their certified products for the Queen Street build was greatly assisted by the fact that the products had achieved Global GreenTagCert™ Gold GreenRate Level A certification.

Asked how important product certification is it to the Vertilux Corporation, Ross states: ”Certification is extremely important to us as we feel it is in-line with our company values and our very own Waste Not Want Not initiative in which we aim to reduce the impact of everything we do.”

GreenTag certified Vertilux products, says Ross, have been instrumental in the sale of products to a number of building projects and he is happy to report that more supply contracts are in the pipeline “nationally and internationally, that are being worked on at the present time and all of them are Green Star projects.”

Asked how Vertilux fare with marketing and leveraging their certified products in the market, he says: “We believe that being the first Company in Australia to introduce a sustainable and ethical product to the marketplace has really changed the mindset in the window covering industry. Prior to this everything was predominately PVC coated fibreglass.”

Why did Vertilux choose to be certified by Global GreenTag? Ross says it was important “to show the market the sustainability of our products and as a company to be known to be ecologically friendly.”

In line with the prestigious 6 Green Star rating of the 480 Queen Street build, Vertilux said it was important to minimise any direct sunlight penetration into the office space.  The manufacturer worked collaboratively with KWA Blinds, Grocon and BVN to design and develop a double overlap bracket configuration to minimise the sunlight penetration in corner situations of the building.
