Home auction on 30 March to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal

    USG Boral

USG Boral is celebrating 25 years of partnership with Henley, building houses for The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Good Friday Appeal (GFA) to raise funds.

As a leading building products manufacturer and supplier, the Port Melbourne-based USG Boral has been donating materials and labour to the Charity Home Auction initiative every year since its inception in 1993, which has raised more than $13.8m to date.

The charity home for the 2018 auction is located at Villawood Properties Waratah Community, Mickleham. The home, which is built with donated materials and labour, will be auctioned on Good Friday 30th March.

USG Boral Contracting Manager VIC/TAS Bryan Kennedy says many of the company’s staff and their families have a personal connection to the RCH, with children and family members receiving care in emergency wards and paediatric units, as well as family and friends that work at the RCH in children’s wards and specialist units, including paediatric oncology. The project is, therefore, close to the hearts of all USG Boral staff members, and is seen as an opportunity to contribute to the work of the RCH and GFA in a sustainable way that lets them give something real back to the community.

This year’s auction house sits on a large 568m² block at 13 Harfield Avenue, in the northern Melbourne suburb of Mickleham. Featuring Henley’s Emperor 41 design, the house has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, four living spaces including alfresco, and a double garage. Luxury fittings and fixtures, professional landscaping, decking, ducted heating and air conditioning, and window coverings are all included along with all of the furniture in the home.

UBL Interior Linings Contracting installed all plasterboard wall and ceiling linings and cornice in the home. USG Boral supplied 1,250m² of plasterboard and 340 lineal metres of cornice. The project required the work of five to six installers over five days.

According to Henley managing director John Harvey, USG Boral has been part of the Charity Home Auction project since day one, and has donated more than $300,000 worth of product and services over the 25 years.

He also thanked USG Boral and the 400-plus trades and suppliers who worked tirelessly, donating their time and resources to create and build a stunning family home for the charity auction.
