Meriton, the developer of Brisbane’s tallest building, Infinity, partnered with Taubmans to achieve the best possible outcomes for their structure’s finished appearance.

Created by developer Meriton, and designed by DBI Design, Infinity is the tallest building in Brisbane, and the fourth tallest in Australia at 249 metres. Infinity contains 549 dwellings with a mix of serviced apartments and private residences distributed over 81 levels.

Featuring a black glass skin with white concrete projections, each face of the tower is treated differently, within the self-imposed, restricted material palette. Vertical fenestration addresses the demands of solar control on the western facade while the northeast exposure is characterised by bold white horizontal projections.

To achieve the best results for the impressive structure, Meriton sought to work with the best available products, backed by the best available service. The developer not only wanted to achieve a desirable end appearance on the finished product, but also ensure that the coating would remain bright and unblemished for a longer period, without needing touch-ups or repainting.

The initial painting process alone took 18 months to complete to deliver the expected outcomes on the tall tower. Taubmans proposed the Armawall paint system for the protective textured exterior coatings, offset against the sharp black glazing. Taubmans also recommended Easycoat, a low sheen interior paint that delivers superior coverage combined with ease of application. Crucially, Easycoat also meets the requirements of cost sensitivities in development projects.

During the extensive painting process, Taubmans worked closely with the painter and the developer to ensure that all coatings and paint finishes were applied using the best techniques. By providing robust, innovative and economical paint systems, combined with industry-leading levels of service, Taubmans was instrumental in realising the Infinity vision as envisaged by the developer and the designers.
