Shanghai is currently hosting the 2010 World Expo. The Expo offers the opportunity, over a limited period, to showcase the host country and participating nations in an accessible and fundamental way.

Australia’s presence in the expo was showcased by a visually stunning pavilion which included dynamic and engaging exhibits, a rich cultural program, unique retail, food and beverage options which introduced visitors to the sights, sounds and tastes of Australia.

Tascot Carpets  was selected to provide the carpeting for the pavilion in the function room and lounge. The carpet used has a unique Uniweave design and will need to endure more than 600 VIP functions for the duration of the expo, which is four months.

Uniweave woven carpets by Tascot Carpets have a design and installation technique that provides greater flexibility and design options for clients. By using Uniweave woven carpets, an Axminster flooring system, Tascot’s design team are able to treat the floor not as a single dimension but as a blank canvas enabling them to explore grander scales and complex themes.

The Pavilion design was all ready to go but was changed with just 1 week to go. This showcases the ability and flexibility of the Tascot design team to switch gears and generate the necessary handtrials, flooded designs and artwork to get this signed off and into production.
