The Stair and Balustrade Association of Australia (SABAA) represents Australia’s staircase and balustrades industry and the individuals who work within it.

The following value statement forms the basis of the association’s activities:

“SABAA Members are committed to provide quality stairs and balustrades to the building and construction industry in a professional manner with an emphasis on value, safety and customer service.”

The association was established in 2003 by the following staircase and balustrades manufacturers:

  • Slattery & Acquroff – Melbourne
  • MCH Geometrics - Melbourne
  • Eric Jones - Melbourne
  • Top Stairs - Adelaide
  • Classic Stairs – Sydney
  • WB Jones – Sydney
  • Majestic Stairs – Western Australia
  • Stairmaster – Brisbane
These companies were concerned about the growing negativity surrounding the industry, which was based primarily around the unprofessional services and poor quality products provided by some staircase and balustrade companies.

The association has since introduced ethical business practices and encourages members to consistently produce high quality staircases and balustrades for their clients.

Furthermore, one of the association’s primary aims is to ensure members are well informed regarding regulatory and compliance issues.

This helps to reinstate the reputation of Australia’s staircase and balustrades industry and ensures members operate in a professional manner and consistently produce quality products that are a result of superior workmanship.

The association produces a glossy magazine on a quarterly basis for the benefit of its members. The publication features information of relevance to the staircase and balustrades industry, from issues affecting the industry through to new product announcements.

The association’s Board is comprised of nine individuals who hail from some of Australia’s most prominent and well-respected staircase and balustrades companies. All of the activities they organise and engage in are for the benefit of the association's members along with Australia’s stair and balustrade industry.
