Sika Australia was commissioned to install a flooring and waterproofing
solution at the car park of a multi-storey residential building within a large urban
development in Footscray, Melbourne.
Located in the Inner West suburb of Footscray, the landmark $350 million
urban development will incorporate an array of residential and commercial buildings,
shared community spaces, cafes and facilities.
A multi-storey residential building within this development required a
waterproofing and flooring solution for its upper level car park. The flooring
solution was required for two different levels. While one required crack
bridging to protect the tenancies below, both needed to be trafficable,
hard-wearing and non-slip, and suitable for a car park while being
aesthetically pleasing and UV resistant.
Brought into the project by the main contractor Grocon, Sika liaised
with Able Industrial Floors to install its specially designed car park deck
waterproofing system.
This system offered a complete waterproofing and flooring solution for
multiple levels by using a combination of Sikalastic 488 and 489, a 3mm high
performance polyurethane trafficable membrane system, and Sika’s flooring
system consisting of Sikafloor 160 and 264T. Sika’s flooring and waterproofing
solution was applied on an area measuring 2000 square metres.
