Prefabricated steel framing from SBS Group was specified for the construction of a permanent building during the upgrade of Seaford Park Primary School in Seaford, Victoria.
Designed by Chaulk Studio architects and built by Kubale Constructions, the new building used SBS Smart Frame instead of the originally documented timber materials for the walls. The prefabricated steel framing system from SBS provided a smarter alternative to timber with onsite construction methods becoming less productive and more time-consuming.
SBS’ in-house design team coordinated full shop detailing, framing layouts and engineering. All openings for doors as well as the straight and circular windows were detailed as part of the framework.
The walls were constructed straight and true as sections using BHP Truecore light gauge steel, allowing easy handling onsite. The walls were installed without requiring any straightening, speeding up the installation process.
