RAPTOR stationary davit systems and rolling davit systems as well as TRAVEL8 static line systems were successfully installed at the Clifton Views high rise building in Fitzroy North, VIC to provide safety at height and access to maintenance workers.

Melbourne's first high rise residential aged care home, Clifton Views combines expansive glass windows providing uninterrupted views of the city’s skyline with architectural features such as glass curtain walls and timber louvre facades to deliver a sophisticated lifestyle for its residents. However, in terms of access to the building’s facades for maintenance personnel, these features also presented many challenges.

Key requirements included providing safety at height and allowing workers access over the fragile facades without applying any load to them. Additionally, the brief sought minimal visibility for the systems to reduce the impact on the design aesthetic of the building.

It was also necessary that the rope access operators had enough freedom of movement to enable them to complete their tasks effectively, efficiently and most importantly, safely.

The SAYFA team welcomed the opportunity to trial two new RAPTOR davit systems on the Clifton Views project.

RAPTOR stationary and rolling davit systems – examples of constant innovation by SAYFA's design, engineering and manufacturing teams – offer the best of both worlds in terms of safety and flexibility.

Installed by Quantum Access, the RAPTOR stationary davit system allows access over the glass curtain wall without damaging the facade, while the rolling davit system enables the operator to roll the davit along the facade, reducing the time required for the operator to reposition themselves.

Both systems can be operated by multiple personnel simultaneously providing a perfect blend of mobility and safety when working at heights.

The client was delighted with the end result, with RAPTOR's unobtrusive design proving that it is possible to provide safety without compromising on building design.
