DBI-SALA, a 3M brand solely dedicated to the fall protection market, has announced the launch of their new ExoFitXP Derrickmans Harness, ideal for use by oil industry personnel when working on the derrick/monkey board.
DBI-SALA has designed a purpose built harness specifically for the Derrickman to perform monkey/tubing board and basket work. According to Rick Millar, Technical Manager for 3M, Australia and New Zealand, the work of a Derrickman is both highly skilled and extremely dangerous. They are exposed to greatrisks of any worker with regards to falling on a drilling rig. A comfortable and functional harness is critical to the smooth and safe operations on the board.
The harness has been constructed with all the necessary features to allow the Derrickman to safely lean out from the work platform (monkey board) to reach the drill pipe in the centre of the derrick or mast. The optional Derrick belt with large frontal pad provides extra comfort while positioning drilling pipes.
Belonging to the ExoFit XP family, the new Derrickmans harness provides the ultimate in comfort, durability, ease of use and security for monkey board operations. The standard features include quick-connect buckles, 30 day comfort guarantee, removable washable padding, protective label pack, reflective piping and i-Safe.
The Exofit Xp Derrickmans Harness meets the strict requirements of the new AS/NZS 1891.1:2007 standard and is equipped with DBI-SALA’s i-Safe intelligent safety system to track inspections, control inventory and manage information. i-Safe utilises RFID equipped fall protection equipment combined with web enabled information management to take fall protection to a new level of performance and safety.
