3M, home of the DBI-SALA and PROTECTA fall protection brands has recently announced the set up of a warehouse for improved inventory support for its New Zealand customer base.

The warehouse will provide improved delivery efficiencies for all major distributors and end users as well as fall protection stock availability.

Richard Drane, Operations Manager for Capital Safety, Australia and New Zealand said “New Zealand customers want access to the best fall protection products and they deserve to be able to get them quickly, arriving in premium condition. We set about putting in place a warehouse management program to maximise this service performance and we think we have the balance right.”

The availability of the ‘Velocity Ship’ program will be launched by Capital Safety in New Zealand in early 2010 as an advancement to this service.

Drane explained that Velocity Ship enables an order to be placed for any Velocity Ship product before 12 noon, and Capital Safety we will guarantee same day dispatch, or the product will be delivered freight free.

“While there are a few terms and conditions around this delivery promise, the program has enabled the business to achieve a DIFOT (Delivered In-Full, On-Time) rate exceeding 97% in Australia for some time, with a similar or better performance expected for New Zealand.”

The warehouse function was opened officially on 2nd October 09.
