Kerlite from Rocks On offers all the cladding properties of the finest porcelain stoneware, in a tile just 3mm thick and up to 1000x3000mm in size. Kerlite is versatile, easy to use, more resistant than stone, lighter than aluminium, and more flexible and workable than standard ceramic products.
Maintaining Kerlite is simple, and its frost and stain resistant properties mean it does not absorb liquids or odours. Dust and grime can be simply removed with hot water. Kerlite is lighter, and easier to trim and lay than standard ceramic products, making it ideal for applications where other products, such as washable paints or laminates were once chosen over traditional-thickness ceramics.
Kerlite is available in large slabs to reduce the amount of grouting required. Limited grout makes Kerlite particularly suitable for healthcare facilities, where hygiene and cleanliness is essential.
Kerlite has now become Kerlite Plus, which can be laid directly on old floors in wood, ceramic or other compact surface materials. The back of each Kerlite tile has a tight-knit fibreglass mesh lining. As well as providing added resistance and excellent heat conduction, the mesh backing ensures the tile will stick firmly to the adhesive spread on the substrate.
Being lightweight, new Kerlite Plus overlay flooring will add very little weight to the existing floor slab. Only slightly thicker than the un-backed version (3.5 instead of 3 mm), Kerlite Plus allows you to renovate your home without the dust, noise and cost of demolishing and laying a new screed. There's no need to adjust doors or skirting boards either, and it saves the expense and trouble of moving permanent fittings.
