Pressalit products specified for revolutionary rehab resort in Collaroy NSW

A rehabilitation centre in Collaroy NSW supported by the Sargood Foundation has reopened as a world-class luxury resort and spa, purpose-built for people living with spinal cord injury.

New research in the field of spinal cord injury (SCI) indicates there may be a cure in the near future. The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) will soon begin a new research program based on ground-breaking discoveries from the USA while rehab centres across the country are preparing to be first-movers as a cure could be developed in Australia.

The 100-year-old rehabilitation centre in Collaroy has been a ‘place of healing’ since 1916. With the launch of the innovative rehabilitation resort, Sargood on Collaroy, Sargood Foundation aims to support people with a spinal injury in their endeavour to play an equal role in society. Expert staff up to date with the latest research and evidence-based innovations in spinal injury management combined with a fully equipped therapy area and gymnasium will enable people living with SCI to take their rehabilitation and training to a higher level. A key objective of the resort is to become the go-to place for people with spinal cord injuries to visit, refresh, learn and connect.

Sargood on Collaroy’s vision is to be a place where people can recover from spinal injuries and stay with their family while adjusting to home, work and community life in a non-hospital environment. There will be opportunities for the development of new work or vocational skills, education for self-management of health and well-being and resilience training; psychological support; family/carer education; relationship support; and avenues for community engagement.

Sargood on Collaroy will be operated by Royal Rehab, a leading spinal injury rehabilitation service in New South Wales.

Specialised products from Pressalit Care will be used throughout the resort’s 17 specialist bathrooms and kitchens.
