World-leading timber and laminate flooring brand, Quick-Step has launched a new range of timber floors featuring two-metre long planks. Quick-Step Imperio’s vintage look will complement any contemporary living space.

Standing at 220cm by 22cm, the Imperio timber planks’ length lends depth to any room while the width offers an exclusive look, highlighting the feel of authenticity and craftsmanship of real wood.

The Imperio range consists of matt varnished or oiled and rustic floors in long, wide planks with the joints on all four faces of the plank adding prominence to the dimensions.

The Imperio range consists of the Naturals and Authentics collections.

Naturals

The Naturals selection in the Imperio range offers a luxurious Pure Oak Matt treated with a matt varnish to give an extra protection coat coloured with a very light white pigment. Natural Heritage Oak Oiled also uses European White Oak as its base and has been finished with a natural oil.

The combination of large knots and flowers with a gentle brushing and subtle joints around the planks makes the Naturals collection ideal for creating warm and cosy home interiors.

Authentics

The Authentics selection in the Imperio offers the delicious Caramel Oak Oiled and the equally appetising Nougat Oak Oiled floors. Large knots and cracks characterise the Caramel Oak Oiled floor, a look that has been achieved by smoking the floors for the caramel tint, which also produces unique colour differences between the planks and within the planks themselves.

The engineered wood floors are also finished off with several coats of quality oil much finer than varnish.

The aptly titled Imperio Nougat Oak Oiled is also a standout by the four joints that underscore the ample width and length, the distinctive ‘character grading’ with hand-sanded knots, the heavy brushing as well as the dark coloured knots and cracks.

The beauty of oiled timber flooring

The uniqueness of this floor lies in the way it is greyed with white oil rubbed into the wood by hand to give the grey a softer and patinated charm.

Quick-Step has introduced a new group as part of the sorting system that designates the quality of the planks. Called ‘character grading’, it lends a greater impact to the weathered look of engineered wood planks in the Authentics floors selection.

The knots are even bigger and deeper with the knots and cracks filled with a dark filling, but not completely and the brush is even deeper and more authentic so as to give the wood grain even greater emphasis and add more texture to the design.
