Sliding office partitions from Portable Partitions have helped one of the world’s leading metal and electronics recyclers create more meeting spaces in their workplace.
Sims Metal Management has a global operation covering over 200 locations in five continents, and more than 5,500 employees working on a handful of team-based projects. Looking to create additional meeting space, the company wanted to split a bigger meeting room into two smaller meeting rooms, allowing their teams to conduct separate meetings simultaneously.
However, they wanted a solution that would allow them to revert to the bigger room if needed. A key requirement was for the solution to have acoustic properties to maintain an acceptable level of privacy and noise reduction between the two smaller meeting rooms.
After considering permanent dry-wall options, the client opted for sliding office partitions, particularly PPA’s StraightWall acoustic portable partitions in fabric finish.
The sliding office partitions supplied for the application had enough height to split the two meeting rooms. It also opened up telescopically to a length of up to 3.43 metres for a full wall-to-wall coverage (options are available for panel height and length).
To meet the noise reduction specification, the panels of the sliding office partitions were engineered with acoustic panels featuring a honeycomb cell core and fibreglass sheets on both sides, providing the needed acoustic support. A whiteboard panel can be supplied optionally instead of fabric.
The sliding office partitions can flexibly slide back if the bigger room is needed, and occupy a very small footprint when not in use.
