QwickBuild by Outdure provided the required framing support for a new rooftop deck at The Burcham apartments in Sydney. Built in 1918 as the Wrigley’s factory, the building was restored and refreshed in 2018 as a high-end apartment complex by Allen Jack + Cottier and Jamie Durie.

The multipurpose rooftop space has been repurposed as a communal area, maximising the prime real estate. A low-height structural solution was required for the unconventional rooftop design, individual balconies and courtyard.

The creative rooftop deck design was crafted of organic shapes made in hardwood and supported by QwickBuild for membrane protection. Installed over the waterproof membrane, QwickBuild deck framing also enabled a flush level between the decking and tiles. The extra engineered support allowed the pergola to be integrated into the design.

QwickBuild deck frames along with a range of Outdure fasteners were specified for the 1291-square-metre project.
