OpenShutters is well known for its quality of Australian-made shutters and louvres. We are constantly growing skills in making unique products for unique situations. This product category is about our problem-solving abilities, as much as it is the construction of products.
These products are designed and prototyped from concept drawings and discussion. Following feedback from clients, we modify the design to best suit the location and operational expectations. In conjunction with the product design, we discuss the functionality in situ and what the expectations are eg. shelter from the southerly winds, privacy from the neighbours, or council requirements. Following this, we are able to source hardware, run trials on special finishes, test operation of hardware to achieve the end results. Once this stage is completed, and expectations satisfied, we are able to craft the product, finish it, and fit it into the space designed.
Some of our projects have been key components in major design and manufacturing awards (including 2018 HIA Home Of The Year, 2017 Hunter Region Custom Home Over $2m, 2018 Belle Coco Republic Interior Design (Best Kitchen)). Customisations have included shutters made from New Guinea Rosewood, Kwila, louvres made in Spotted Gum, unique blade sizes and profiles in shutters, blades operating in a vertical orientation (instead of the traditional horizontal). We are able to combine materials such as aluminium framing with timber blades or louvres, fixed or operable.
