Taking less than a cubic metre of kitchen space, the new power house of Italian culinary technology delivers seven different cooking modes and will cook everything from breakfast for two to dinner for 20 or more.

Smeg’s new C9GMX upright, available from Omega Appliances , combines six gas burners, of different sizes and intensities, with seven oven functions that will produce succulent spit roast, short pastry, ideal slow cooked lamb and light soufflé.

Smeg’s C9GMX freestanding cooker, designed by renowned Italian architect Guido Canali, is a 90cm wide all stainless steel masterpiece of design that delivers a large 121 litre oven capacity together with an ultra-rapid wok burner, a rapid burner, two semi-rapid burners and two low-simmer auxiliary burners.

This means everything from stir frying and rapid pasta boiling to low simmered sauces and casseroles are produced to flawlessness – either on their own or simultaneously.

The oven’s efficiency is due, in part, to the inclusion of twin 2000 watt rear mounted fan elements and a double-glazed thermo-reflective door – its safety is due to forced air door cooling technology and insulated control panel dials and door handle.

The spacious cooktop meanwhile, ensures all burners can be used simultaneously whether cooking with wok, stock pot or frypan.

The hob is manufactured from a single-pressed stainless steel sheet with rolled edging, to ensure there are no gaps or joins that will accumulate grime, and comprises three heavy-duty cast-iron trivets and a flame failure device fitted to each burner.

Easy-clean oven enamelling, a fully programmable oven for start and stop cooking plus a full width storage compartment are just some of the conveniences of the Smeg C9GMX upright.
