ProdEX natural wood panels by Prodema were specified alongside metal and glass by FJMT Studio to introduce transparency and openness at the new Surry Hills Library and Community Centre in suburban Sydney.

The Surry Hills Library and Community Centre houses a library and resource centre, a community centre, and a childcare centre, all integrated into one building and accessible by all the residents. Based on a design brief developed in close consultation with the local community, the building functions as a single shared facility to be used in different ways.

Transparency was the underlying architectural theme for the building, helping create a sustainable building that is open and accessible to all.

FJMT Studio combined Prodema’s natural wood panels with metal and glass to meet the basic design objectives of transparency, accessibility and sustainability.
