The developer of a residential apartment project in the Sydney suburb of Roseville chose two products from Modular Wall Systems to build sturdy block walls around the garden in the complex. They wanted to create block walls with planter boxes around the garden to provide structure to the feature as well as use a surface texture and colour that would complement its natural surroundings.

EstateWall, a premium wall product from Modular Wall Systems was used in combination with TerraFirm retaining panels to build sturdy block walls around the boundary of the garden, providing a lightweight modular system to the developers as opposed to a heavy-duty masonry solution.

The walls ran for 101 lineal metres in total, and made use of the TerraFirm retaining panels to create planter boxes at the base of the structure. The retaining sections essentially elevated an area of soil above the ground for the placement of ornamental plants.

Being a versatile product, EstateWall allowed the developers to incorporate thick timber frames as a decorative embellishment that complemented the visual aesthetic of the garden, while also lending a greater sense of openness and transparency to the wall structure. Additionally, the block walls were covered with sandstone tiles for better integration with the style of the garden as well as the rest of the apartment complex. The coarse surface and irregular patterns of the sandstone tiles produce a classy effect, and provide a striking contrast to the adjacent plant life of the garden.
