To house the contestants, trainers, team managers and officials in one area, a small town had to be built specifically for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Each of the 3 to 4 bedroom homes were designed and constructed to include a 6 star energy rating, solar hot water service, sensor lighting, rainwater collection and recycling and the ability to change once the games were over. MiTek PosiStruts and MiTek TrussSpacers from MiTek Australia are distributed by Bowens Roof Trusses.

Bowens Roof Trusses, the MiTek fabricator, were called on to provide all the prefabrication needs for the construction of some 168, 2-storey homes some with attached garages, some with detached garages with second storey studios. There were 650 semi-trailer loads of prefabricated product including over 36,000 lineal metres of wall frames, 34,000 lineal metres of MiTek PosiStruts and more than 17,000 EqA of MiTek engineered timber roof trusses. This represented an all-of-house solution for the builders and developers. They got everything needed from Bowens: the roofs, the walls, the floor joists and thousands of MiTek TrussSpacers.
