MDT-tex® partnered with Grimshaw Architects to introduce a new canopy shelter system at the Frankfurt Light + Building design festival and trade fair.

Designed by MDT-tex® and Grimshaw, the new Tensilation (Type EV series) canopy system represents a major shift from the traditional shelter concept. A key objective during the product development phase was to create a shelter system that would offer the flexibility of modular canopies as well as the engineering strengths of a unified structure.

The lightweight Tensilation (Type EV series) canopy system consists of an elegant square or diamond-shaped canopy unit that can either be used independently or connected to additional units in flexible configurations to accommodate larger crowds. Adding more canopy units to the modular system also increases strength and wind resistance of the overall structure. Drainage takes place via a series of central supporting columns with each canopy piece connected with watertight capping for complete weather protection.

Weighing less than 30kg, the lightweight frame can be installed by three people without any need for lifting equipment. Designed for quick assembly, the Tensilation (Type EV series) offers a practical alternative to marquees and conventional canopy systems during events or for pop-up spaces. The canopy can also be quickly annexed to buildings or marquees.
